In two weeks, these two rad people (Jane & Danny!) will be newly married, and to celebrate, I thought I’d share their gorgeous engagement mini session down by the beach (and maybe also because wouldn’t it be nice if it was summer again!).

One roll of 36-exposure film, however long it takes us to get through it, and some character-filled photos of your beautiful self/selves (or your business or your product or your animal friend or whatever else you can possibly dream of!).

2 days getting lost in Los Angeles.
5 days at the indescribable Yeah! Field Trip.
2 days getting distracted by our cameras on Highway 1.
2 days drinking coffee in San Francisco.

After not much sleep, at 6am, the 5 of us piled into a car and headed out to Clifton Beach, where we met their celebrant and got things underway. The heat was searing under one of Cairns’ rare blue skies, but we smiled & laughed our way through the beautiful ceremony and were on our way to find breakfast near Port Douglas not much more than an hour later. 

In Verona, the city of Romeo & Juliet, the great love tale of our culture, life seemed slow but fast but… fake. Unreal in the lighting, balconies, slippery marble walkways and grand drinking fountains in tourist-filled piazzas.

Lately I’ve been drawn to the kind of images that aren’t necessarily well composed or perfectly exposed, but rather that are full of a kind of nostalgic reality…
