When my friend Gemma asked me to take some family portraits for her, her husband Ant and their gorgeous new-old family member, Sally the Dog, I couldn’t wait! I’ve always admired Gemma’s passion for causes close to her, her awareness & understanding, and her ability to look beyond appearances. I was sure taking photos and making memories together could only be a good thing. It definitely helped that photos involved playing with Sally the Labrador.
Too often, old dogs get overlooked for adoption but Gemma & Ant couldn’t resist 9-year old Sally’s sweet demeanour and playful spirit. She made the perfect addition to their family and honestly, I kind of wish I could take her home myself. Sally was adopted from Labrador Rescue in Perth.
We headed over to Sir James Mitchell Park just before sunset to escape the heat and let Sally roam free. When taking photos of pets, it’s always a good idea to go somewhere they know. It’s just lucky this is one of Sally’s favourite parks! With wide-open green spaces, white sand beaches and a view of the Perth city skyline over the Swan River, it’s an absolute dream. We even managed to find some time for photos of just Gemma & Ant, even if Sally made it clear she wasn’t a fan of PDA 😛
