A year ago today, these two incredible humans were married on a secluded beach in Australia’s Tropical North West. After not much sleep, at 6am, the 5 of us piled into a car and headed out to Clifton Beach, where we met their celebrant and got things underway. The heat was searing under one of Cairns’ rare blue skies, but we smiled & laughed our way through the beautiful ceremony and were on our way to find breakfast near Port Douglas not much more than an hour later.
When Ines told me she thought she’d like me to photograph her wedding about 2 months before at one of Perth’s instameets, I hardly thought that we’d be celebrating just that before the year was out. You can imagine the crazy smile on my face though when I received a message, ‘so… me and my boy just decided to get hitched! Let’s get coffee!’
With family & friends spread across Australia and other far-flung corners of the world, the decision to have a Cairns elopement was an easy one for Craig & Ines (at least from what I’ve heard!), who share a love of nature and adventuring, and who didn’t want to kick up a big fuss. It was truly an honour to join in the day, complete with tropical rainforest adventures at Mossman Gorge and a relaxed dinner later that night. And today, I hope that even though Craig is off onsite this week, these two beautiful souls share many adventures to come – happy first anniversary!!
PS. You can read about the wedding from Ines’ perspective over on her blog, By the Sea! She also shared a really lovely post today reflecting on the past year 🙂
If you’re interested in having me photograph your wedding or elopement – analogue or digital – please do get in contact! I’d love to capture your day for you to look back on for years to come!
