A little over two years ago now, I had the incredible experience of visiting Turkey to commemorate ANZAC Day. As well as redefining my world view, I also had the chance to meet some incredible people – I’m not usually one for tours, but this group made me reconsider! One such human was Gemma, a gorgeous engineer from Perth who was one of the few to trek all the way from Australia especially for the occasion.
I remember her choosing a belt for her partner in a beautiful leather store we visited – something about the care she took in buying this gift stuck with me – and so it was a serious pleasure to at long last meet the two of them together to take some photos just because.
We walked and talked, camera shutter going off every now and then, and despite Ben’s definite shyness of cameras, these two are so comfortable and confident in each other that the photos taken along the Mindarie Marina fast became some of my favourites.
