There is nothing quite like talking to a person and finding the thing that makes them light up, a fire in their eyes and a smile they can’t turn down. You say, “if you could quit your day job and do anything, what would it be?” and they launch into tales of creative pursuits, learning language, roaming free across the world.
Even more though, I love when you ask someone that same questions and realise that that person is already doing the thing that makes their heart sing.
So of course, it’s a dream to photograph these moments with creatives who are pursuing their passion full steam ahead, putting fear aside and investing all they have into doing this thing they love. They are the Go-Getters & the Dreamers.
Not too long ago, I got to do just that with Ashleigh Perrella, artist, florist & creator over at the Wild Stem. She set up shop in my old bedroom for the day where we made use of blank space and littered my house with her bright floral designs, full of fun, hope & nature.
I got to watch on as she finished off the fineliner sketch of an artwork, before filling in the colours bit-by-bit, and as she took apart flower arrangements and put them back together again to create another incredible work of art.
You can find Ashleigh’s work at a host of different places, but the best place to start is here!

If you’re interested in having me photograph your creative venture or small business – analogue or digital – please do get in contact! I’d love to work with you!
